Keynote Speaker: Soraya Kim

Soraya Kim is the CTO Chief of Staff for Research and Advanced Engineering at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan where she leads global research operations, operations in Palo Alto, Europe, China and Israel, university research, external partnerships, government contracts, information systems, and STEAM.

Prior to joining Ford, Soraya was the Chief Innovation Officer at the American Center for Mobility, a 500+ acre state-of-the-art test facility for connected and automated vehicles, where she worked with the core team in standing up the facility, securing over $100 Million of funding, and working with AT&T on 5G network infrastructure, Microsoft on developing a data management analytics platform, and Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Visteon, and Subaru on simulation and testing.

Soraya also worked for the Global Commercialization Group at the University of Texas in Austin where new technologies from around the world were identified, evaluated, and supported using a NASA-based commercialization methodology, that included introducing automotive technologies to ZF, Visteon, Navistar, and others.

Having immigrated to Canada, Soraya is a Korean-Canadian growing up in Toronto and graduating from the University of Toronto. She later received her LLB/JD from the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy, and worked for McCarthy Tetrault before moving to Michigan where she worked for GM. During her early  years as a young attorney, Soraya was active in the community and served as a member of the Board of Directors for Cho Hung Bank of Canada, Vice-Chair and Director of the Canada-Korea Society, and an appointee of the National Unification Advisory Council.

Currently living in Michigan, she is married with 3 young adult children.
