Steering Committee is a group of talented, passionate young professionals who will work with the board of directors or lead projects themselves in all efforts that align with KCSF’s vision of helping Korean Canadian students achieve their potential either through scholarships or proactive programming (leadership, mentoring, networking) and to serve the Korean Canadian community as a whole, working with and for young professionals and established professionals as well, helping building relationships and networks that will have a positive impact on the whole of the Korean Canadian community.
What We Do
Steering Committee members provide operational support for KCSF and the Student Development Committee (SDC) in various capacities including external/community relations, creating and distributing promo material for stakeholders, leading and/or supporting special projects, planning and implementing events, and contributing as judges for scholarship selection. The SC is made up of young professionals from diverse professional backgrounds such as healthcare, law, government, higher education, real estate, public relations, donor relations, event management, communications, finance, and arts. We are passionate about building a strong Korean-Canadian community through investing in the current and future leaders to excel in their fields, make use of rich networks and resources, and go on to lead others.

Steering Committee Structure and Responsibilities
The Steering Committee is led by chair, Edward Kang, and consists of dedicated and passionate young professionals and graduate students who volunteer their time and talents.
Current opportunities & description of responsibilities for the teams, though subject to change, are currently as follows. However, teams and roles will change and expand as our committee grows in response to needs of KCSF and the community. So, if your interests align with our goals and you want to be a part of the Steering Committee, please do not hesitate to apply even if you may not specifically fit into the following roles. Advancement & Alumni Relations Team
Advancement & Alumni Relations Specialist
In-house specialist to share responsibilities with the donor relations manager to establish & maintain relationship with current and future endowers and sponsors as well as alumni (past KCSF scholarship or bursary recipients and past KCSF members). Assist the manager in preparing material and events for KCSF’s fundraising campaign. Education and/or experience in donor relations and/or fundraising required. English and Korean bilingual imperative.
Design and Production Team
Graphics Designers (2 positions available)
In-house graphic designers to design event posters, pamphlets, invitations (electronic), and branding (logo design, font(s) selection, website design, etc.) as necessary. Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop and considerable experience in designing materials for events/organizations required. English & Korean imperative. Please send 2 samples of your work with your application.
A seasoned or training videographer to film and edit contents for KCSF events and to participate in special projects. Credits will be given for all work completed. Full time commitment to meetings are not necessary and your talents will be required on project basis.

External Relations Team
In-house website administrator to oversee website development and maintenance. Work with the Public Relations & Communication Managers and Social Media Specialist in the External Relations team as well as the Design and Production team. Will also work closely with the KCSF board of directors and Student Development Committee depending on the projects.
One of our two in-house accounting and financial specialists to prepare budget, expense reports, and year-end reports for SC and KCSF. Growth opportunities to work with the board of directors in areas of charitable organization’s finances, donations, asset management, etc. Education and/or experience in accounting/finance required.
